laser Treatment

In urology, laser treatment is a specialized procedure used to treat a variety of diseases affecting the reproductive system and urinary tract. The following are a few typical uses:
  • Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): By shrinking the prostate, laser treatment can improve urine flow and lessen associated discomfort. Methods like GreenLight laser therapy and Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) are frequently employed.
  • Kidney Stones: Smaller kidney stones that are easier to pass can be broken up using lasers. The process, called laser lithotripsy, breaks up the stones with a laser fiber that is fed through a ureteroscope.
  • Urethral Strictures: By eliminating or vaporizing scar tissue, lasers can be used to treat strictures, or narrowing of the urethra, and restore regular urine flow.
  • Bladder Tumors: When standard surgery could be more intrusive, laser therapy can be used to eliminate or reduce bladder tumors.
  • Urinary Tract Obstructions: By eliminating blockages or scar tissue, lasers can aid in the treatment of urinary tract obstructions.
  • In certain instances, laser therapy may be utilized in conjunction with a more comprehensive treatment strategy to address the symptoms of interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome.
